As I mentioned in my last blog post a few days ago, I have soon been married for four months, and I have moved to Yad Binyamin to join my wife and her kids. Of course, I also go to Maon to see my kids as often as possible. So how is life in Yad Binyamin? Even before the wedding, I spent a lot of time in Yad Binyamin, both during weekdays and on Shabbat. I even spent both Rosh HaShanah and Simchat Torah here. I got to know the community very well before I moved here in January 2025. I love my home and everything, but I am finding it hard to really feel a part of the community. I don’t know if it’s me or if it is the community, but for me, it doesn’t matter so much. The community only has prayer services on Shabbat, and the rest of the week I am praying in another Synagogue. The most important thing at the end of the day is that I feel comfortable at home and that I do a lot. My wife´s family is amazing and they accepted me quite fast. Of course, like all second marriages, it takes time to sync everything together. But today I feel like we are one family and I am not an outsider.

Life in Yad Binyamin is truly enjoyable. It is a good place to live in and I have nothing to complain about. Thank God, my wife helped me a lot to settle in and she introduced me to many people. I have some friends, and I make an effort to speak with them on a weekly basis. The only thing I really don´t like is that I feel that people in the Shul, although they are friendly on the surface, never seem to make an effort to get to know me on a deeper level. Even after the engagement, few people came up to wish me Mazal Tov, and it hasn’t been much better after the wedding. But honestly, I don´t need it very much. I am happy with my life. I didn’t agree to move to Yad Binyamin for the community; I did it because my wife lived here. And here I have built up my new life. Every day is a pleasure. I have a great life. Better than I ever could dream about.

Even though life in Yad Binyamin is very good, I still miss Maon. Not only do I have my children there but also a lot of my friends. I lived in Maon for nearly 20 years, and it is impossible to uproot all my memories from there. Maon is important to me and will always be. I love coming back and spending Shabbat there once in a while.
