After tragedy comes rebirth
The Jewish nation is the chosen nation and for thousands of years, we have survived and outlived the nations that oppressed us. With all oppression, we have not only survived but also grown stronger and rebuilt ourselves. The most important thing is that we always have been able to see God´s hand.
Today I don´t want to focus on contemporary history. I want to talk about the Holocaust and the aftermath of Simchat Torah last year. May God forbid that we will ever have another Holocaust to deal with and I am quite sure it will never happen again. 6 million Jews were brutally murdered by the Nazis just for being Jewish. This was and hopefully will be the biggest tragedy in Jewish history. Looking back at the tragedy of the Holocaust, it is hard to see and believe that something good could come out of it. How could we still believe in God afterward? But with a strong hand, God gave us the State of Israel in the Land of Israel that he promised to our forefathers. At last, we were able to have our own land, and we could come home again.
Simchat Torah last year was the biggest tragedy that ever happened to the Jewish people after the Holocaust. More than 1200 Jews were brutally murdered by our enemies the Arabs. Without any mercy, they killed men, women, children, and elderly people. Why did God let this happen? This is a question that many people are asking. But we have to understand that everything has its purpose. We may not see it, but we have to believe that God is doing it for his beloved children, the Jewish Nation. Nothing is random. Before the war, we were a Nation with many political and ideological conflicts. Too much hatred between groups in the Israeli society. We were far away from being united. God wants us to respect each other and aim in the same direction. Today we all stand stronger together and we have the same aim, that of protecting our nation and our land, and destroying our enemies once and forever. We have to believe that after this war is over we will be a much stronger nation and hopefully many more Jews will see God´s strong hand and how he is guiding his beloved nation in the right direction for complete redemption. There is so much global antisemitism, but we are strong, and we are fighting. This war is advancing us in Hashem’s master plan for us, towards the fulfillment of His original promise to us, that we will be His chosen people in his chosen Land that he promised us.
The individual losses are hard, each loss is a tragedy. But collectively as, a nation, we are advancing in the bigger picture.
It’s like a tapestry. When you look at the tapestry closely, you see the individual stitches, the knots, and the tangles, but when you zoom out, you can see a much bigger picture….
For sure, at the moment that picture is hard to see. We can´t yet see the full picture of this tragedy. But we will and we have to believe in it. We don´t know and can´t see God´s masterplan but we know it is there and it is for our best. Hopefully, shortly we will be able to see the bigger picture, how the tragedy even contributed in some way to our growth as a nation and as a people.
